Yeah theres a boss in poisoned outcrops, but it sucks to get there and he kills you very fast. You can also do the mission only if you kill the droughtlings last at least according to wiki. It's hard to cap but its worth it

ya you gotta kill the droughtlings last, and the mission is fast if you dont waste time shutting all the valves

I capped it last night. Like others have said, kill the boss before the lesser minions. This is what I did - approach from the left side, I think you might have to. Kill the droughtlings on the stairs. Take out the next group by the pump next. Leave the rest on the other side of the area, they won't aggro you anways.

Target the boss next. Make sure to take tons of interrupts. I had my ele set to pure interrupts, Power Block was haxx. My MM was N/E for Maelstrom at 0 water magic, and I took Winter on Melonni so that it didn't matter if I shut off the pumps or not.
Distracting shot and other interrupts on ranger heroes would work just as well or better. Good luck capping.

Had to do the mission twice to cap it as first time the boss and his little minions all bunched up and died together ridiculously quickly

Second time the warr in the group pulled the droughtlings, ran away and the rest of the group took out the boss.

Job done

What's so difficult? Just activate the pumps to weaken the darn boss, and then take him out first! Cap Sandstorm.

Yes, you won't get the bonus, but who cares? Just repeat the mission (without activating the pumpsthis time) and finally when you get to the boss, give him a taste of his own medicine.

i overestimated the difficulty of capping sandstorm and getting masters, i ran:

e/me [myself]: power block, backfire, arcane larceny, arcane thievery, signet of humility, gole, mof, capsig - note: way overspecialised. the drought drops so incredibly fast that this is probably wholly unnecessary.

heros

r/me: broad head arrow, distracting shot, savage shot, apply poison, winter, mantra of frost - more damage/dazed (concussion) if you like. doesnt matter.

d/w: distracting blow, wounding strike, crippling sweep, victorious sweep, conviction + some enchants/whatever

mo/me: hp, lod, sigs, rof, soa, chanelling, mantra of frost - other stuff maybe

then you just need a little more healing and some more non-aoe damage. fighter/brawlers and so on to speed the process up.

P.S. the only droughtling group you have to engage before the drought and his two friends is the one nearest the stairs.

capping sandstorm and doing masters is very easy and fast, I have been doing this run for alot of my guildies and alliance members.

Don't kill all the droughtlings, use an ele with 2 hero ele's and spike the boss to death very easily with Meteor shower (combined with the hero ones the are devastating) and a snare + throw all you other dmg skill on it.

I took single-attacking henchies, equipped all my heroes with single-attacking spells and skills, and went as an air spiker. That way... none of the droughtlings took any damage, so capturing it was easy.

Before that, I tried capturing the skill from the boss in Poisoned Outcrops with henchies. It seems utterly impossible to me. The boss just does such an incredibly insane amount of damage, couldn't kill even one of the Stone Shard Crags before the party got totally wiped, and I could never get a spawn with less than 2 Stone Shard Crags, so I had to attempt to get past 2 regular, and 1 boss Sandstorm with suicidal henchies. I gave up when the party got wiped within 2 seconds about the fifth respawn.

I don't recall it as being particularly difficult. My wife and I did it, with her leading. We didn't bother with the pumps; that was mainly laziness, but getting Masters was nice too. I think I took my usual hero set, so were were Three Nuketeers plus an MM. Or I took a monk and let her bring the MM.

My caster heroes, MM excepted, generally have Power Drain/Leech Signet. I rarely do interrupting myself.

I tend to charge right in and try to spike the boss anyway in most cases, so that was a good fit.

I just don't recall any difficulties bad enough to be -- well, to be memorable.
